The Other Image – www.theotherimage.com – is my attempt to bring visual and academic work together on a practical, daily basis. It is not a portfolio to showcase polished images. Making visual and academic work integral to each other is an ongoing experiment.
I believe that the strength of both photography and ethnography lies in telling stories of people and places, of particularities – stubborn yet entangled with the wider world. Arts and academia add to each other in this endeavour. Together, they can seed impressions that challenge general assumptions and let the world appear in a different light. At their best, they help us see the other image.
